Position Summary: Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for Atlas Air’s global Unit Load Device (ULD) program across scheduled, charter, ACMI, AMC, and other applicable operations. This position is responsible for the strategy, performance, and control of ULD assets, including allocation, tracking, procurement, repair, maintenance, vendor management, regulatory compliance, financial management, and continuous improvement. Ensure certified equipment is available at the right location and time to support safe, compliant, reliable, and efficient operations.

Major Job Accountabilities:

• Lead the global, 24/7 ULD operation and ensure reliable support for Atlas Air’s worldwide flight operations.
• Develop and execute the global ULD strategy, optimizing asset availability, utilization, service levels, and total cost of ownership.
• Oversee the allocation, positioning, tracking, recovery, and inventory control of ULDs and related equipment.
• Develop and manage annual ULD operating and capital budgets, monitor financial performance, and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
• Lead ULD procurement activities in partnership with Procurement, including equipment purchases, supplier selection, vendor negotiations, and distribution of newly acquired equipment.
• Establish and manage performance standards, KPIs, service-level agreements, and governance processes for ULD suppliers, repair vendors, and Ground Handling Agents.
• Ensure ULD procurement, inspection, repair, maintenance, handling, and operational use comply with applicable FAA, international aviation, and company requirements.
• Maintain and continuously improve the Atlas Air ULD repair program, including vendor oversight, quality controls, and regulatory compliance.
• Lead the strategy and continuous improvement of ULD tracking, inventory, and analytical systems.
• Use operational data and analytics to identify trends, forecast requirements, improve asset positioning, and support business decisions.
• Develop and communicate operational and financial reporting to senior leadership.
• Identify and implement process improvements that enhance reliability, responsiveness, efficiency, and customer service.
• Lead, develop, and mentor the ULD logistics team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Build effective working relationships with Operations, Cargo, Maintenance, Procurement, Finance, Safety, Quality, IT, Network Planning, customers, vendors, and Ground Handling Agents.
• Ensure ULD procedures, standards, and service expectations are understood and consistently executed by applicable internal and external partners.
• Serve as a senior escalation point for significant ULD-related operational, financial, vendor, compliance, and customer issues.
• Ensure ULD requirements are incorporated into operational planning and respond effectively to changing customer and network requirements.
• Maintain current knowledge of ULD industry practices, regulatory developments, technology, and market trends and represent Atlas Air at relevant industry forums and conferences.
• Any other projects as assigned by the Vice President Ground Operations and Director Ground Operations Logistics.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant aviation experience may be considered.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive aviation, logistics, cargo, supply chain, or related experience, including at least 5 years of ULD-related experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading global or geographically dispersed operations in a 24/7 environment.
• Strong knowledge of ULD operations, asset management, repair, maintenance, and applicable aviation regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated experience working with Ground Handling Agents, suppliers, repair organizations, and other external business partners.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use operational data to develop KPIs, identify trends, and drive improvements.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other reporting and data-analysis tools.
• Experience with ULD or cargo-management systems such as Veoci, AIMS, SABLE, CargoSpot, or comparable platforms preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to make timely decisions and manage competing priorities in a high-pressure, time-sensitive operational environment.
• Strong leadership, collaboration, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
• Ability to support a 24/7 global operation, including availability outside normal business hours when operationally required.

Competitive compensation will be offered based on a variety of factors, including a candidate's experience, skills, education, geographic location, internal equity and other factors. In addition, a range of benefits to include medical, dental and vision insurance, employee assistance program, as well as generous paid time off, and 401K contributions are offered as a part of the total compensation package.

Pay Range

$114,000—$134,000 USD
