Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, Hemodialysis Nurses provide specialized nursing care to patients with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) requiring hemodialysis. Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, Hemodialysis Nurses provide specialized nursing care to patients with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) requiring hemodialysis. They are responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized care to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive physical, psychosocial, and pain assessments, including patient education needs.
- Develop and implement personalized care plans based on assessments, diagnoses, and patient goals.
- Monitor patient responses during hemodialysis treatments, including vital signs and access site evaluation.
- Operate and troubleshoot dialysis equipment, ensuring all procedures meet safety and quality standards.
- Recognize and respond promptly to complications such as hypotension, air embolism, or access issues.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and completely in electronic medical records.
- Hold a current NY State RN License.
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN); Master's Degree preferred.
- Have at least 1 year of clinical experience in medical-surgical, emergency, or critical care settings.
- Demonstrate competency in hemodialysis procedures and patient assessment.
- Maintain BLS and ACLS certification; Nephrology Nursing Certification preferred.
- Exhibit strong communication, decision-making, and teamwork skills.
