Description

POSITION PURPOSE: Responsible for a wide variety of food tasks, including assisting in the preparation of meals, washing dishes and/or serving meals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior food service experience preferred

SECURITY/ACCESS:

• Will have access to the facility 24 hours a day.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepares meals by following approved menus.
• Prepares drinks and food according to the order.
• Prepares drinks and food in a sanitary manner.
• Ensures proper proportions, portioning and serving of food.
• Tastes and smells food to determine quality and palatability.
• Assists with cooking and tray assembly ensuring a smooth work flow from food preparation to delivery.
• Assists in putting away clean dishware.
• Assists in setting patient trays, serving guests and staff.
• Sets up and disassemble trays after meals.
• Prepares dining room for meals.
• Sets up carts for meals.
• Follows diet cards and special diet instructions for all meals.
• Prepares the patient satisfaction survey and distributes to patients, when time allows.
• Collects completed surveys.
• Assists in stocking and maintaining supplies for the kitchen and dining room.
• Follows procedures for delivery day.
• Restocks kitchen as needed.
• Restocks cafeteria necessities.
• Checks temperatures in cooling units and accurately records them.
• Follows HACCP safety and sanitary guidelines.
• Ensures proper washing and sanitizing of all dishes and cooking equipment.
• Cleans tables, work surfaces and appliances.
• Cleans floors in dietary by sweeping and mopping.
• Follows HIPAA regulations and ensures that the confidentiality of patients medical, personal, financial records, employee records, and organizational records is maintained.
• Participates in FCH committees, quality assurance, performance and quality improvement initiatives, and activities which support the facility and department operations.
• Complies with the state and federal regulatory requirements related to the performance of FCH operations and requirements of the FCH Compliance Program. Including but not limited to:
• The Compliance Policy.
• Completes all on-line training annually and as assigned.
• All department and organization-wide policies.
• Considers the impact of regulations such as Critical Access Hospital requirements, along with Federal and State of Nebraska regulations and discusses concerns appropriately to ensure compliance.
• Presents self in a professional manner and enhances professional growth and development through participation in education programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
• Seeks opportunities for continued growth and performance improvement.
• Always maintains a professional appearance and manner.
