Medical Assistant

Pay Rate: $18 per hour - $22 per hour

Shift Timings: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Summary:

Assist in patient care, including venipuncture, EKGs, and specimen collection.

Support physicians in procedures and relay instructions to patients.

Perform clerical duties, including managing medical records and scheduling.

Responsibilities:

• Accompany patients to exam rooms and assist with mobility and dressing.
• Take vital signs and provide information to patients and families.
• Handle clerical tasks, such as sending and receiving medical records and managing charts.
• Enter orders and prepare prescription refill requests in the EMR system.
• Inventory and restock medical supplies.
• Set up examination rooms and instruments, ensuring sterilization.
• Maintain logging systems for medications, testing, and sterilization processes.
• Check expiration dates on medications and supplies, disposing of them as per policy.
• Ensure a safe and compliant work environment, adhering to standards and regulations.
• Assist in maintaining medical charts and may schedule surgeries or procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy duties as required.
• Manage appointment scheduling and patient registration.
• Verify and update insurance information and perform pre-certification for procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED with completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate course.
• Medical Assistant certificate from an approved school.
• BLS certification required, issued by AHA.

Preferred Skills:

• Basic computer skills, including MS Office Suite.
• Effective communication with multicultural and language-deficit patients.
• Excellent telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
• Knowledge of electronic medical record or billing systems preferred.
• Ability to adapt to a growing and changing environment.
