A highly respected Level I Trauma teaching hospital is seeking experienced MedSurg/Telemetry Registered Nurses for a fast-paced and team-oriented unit caring for orthopedic, trauma, post-surgical, and medically complex patients.

This is an excellent opportunity for nurses looking to expand their experience in a high-acuity trauma environment with strong interdisciplinary support and advanced patient care exposure.

35-bed MedSurg/Telemetry Unit
Average Census: 35 patients
First-time travelers accepted
Minimum 2 years Med/Tele RN experience required

Orthopedic & trauma injuries
- Femur fractures
- Tib-fib fractures
- Spinal injuries
- Rib fractures
- Head trauma/hemorrhage
Osteomyelitis
Acute & chronic medical conditions
Post-operative patients
CHF
Diabetes
Hypertension
Electrolyte imbalances
Infection management

Patient Ratios

RN: 1:4-6
LPN: 1:4-6
CNA: 2-3 per shift

Required Certifications

BLS (Required)
Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR)
- Travelers must pass an EKG competency exam during compliance
ACLS (Preferred)
Med-Surg or Nephrology Certification (Preferred)

Trach care
Chest tube management
Peripheral IV starts
Central line management
Glucommander
Insulin & heparin drips
HR titration drips (non-BP)
Telemetry interpretation
Wound care & post-op monitoring
Patient education & discharge planning
Interdisciplinary care coordination

Required to float to all adult MedSurg/Telemetry units within the facility

Orientation

1 day hospital orientation with education modules
2 days departmental/unit orientation

Scheduling

12-hour shifts
- Days: 7A-7P
- Nights: 7P-7A
No on-call
Every other weekend rotation
- 5-6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule
Holiday rotation required
