The General MaintenanceMechanic reports to the General Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor and the Plant OperationsManager. The position is responsible for performing routine preventative maintenanceon HVAC equipment across all Waubonsee Campuses. Additionally, the roleincludes performing basic electrical and plumbing maintenance tasks.


Responsibilities
TheGeneral Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing a variety ofmaintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning and upkeep of Waubonseecampuses. These responsibilities include preventative maintenance as well asrepairs as follows:

HVAC: Primarily preventative maintenance tasks suchas changing air filters, replacing belts, and greasing equipment as well assupporting other mechanical systems as needed. Restart air handler units asneeded. Basic understanding of HVACsystems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigerationprinciples.


Plumbing: Diagnose and repair plumbing issues such asfixing leaks, unclog drains, replacing damaged pipes or fixtures. Identifying root cause of plumbing issues anddeveloping solutions.


Electrical: Install new electrical systems includingwiring, outlets, lighting, ballasts, etc. Diagnose and repair electrical problems such as faulty wiring,malfunctioning equipment, and tripped breakers.


Completingbasic carpentry tasks such as fixing damaged or deteriorated woodwork,install/repair cabinetry, shelving, trim, cove base, hang/remove pictures,storage units, dry erase boards.

Locksmith: Troubleshoot issues with manual and automaticdoor locking mechanisms.


Painting: Surface preparation, paint application, colormatching, patching and minor repairs to drywall, maintain /cleaning of paintequipment and tools.
Abilityto read blueprints and technical drawings preferred

Maintainingcleanliness and organization in workrooms, warehouses, and storage areas.

Utilizeapproved vendor websites to order supplies to complete jobs (minor tools,bulbs, ballasts, Order necessary materials and supplies from approved vendorwebsites to complete tasks.


Provideassistance to General Maintenance Mechanics as required.

Performother duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum of two years of experience in a related maintenance field suchas HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or general facilities maintenance.
Possession of a valid driver's license and a cleandriving record.

Strong team player with the ability to work well withothers.

Excellent customer service skills.

Physical ability to lift 80lbs occasionally.

Ability to read blueprints and technical drawingspreferred

Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, and otherelevated platforms

Problem-solving ability to find solutions usingcreative thinking to find solutions to issues.

Effective, oral and written communication skills.

Ability to do frequent climbing, standing, crawling,and walking.

Ability to work independently with minimalsupervision.
