Nurse Specialist CVOR

In Cardiovascular Operating Room at Main Campus Children's of Alabama

Work schedule will be Full-time on the Day Shift, Monday-Friday 0600-1430 with call shifts.

Summary:
The CVOR Nurse Specialist is a professional nurse who, with minimal supervision, assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing care of CV patients who require a surgical procedure.

Other information:

• Knows AORN Guidelines for Perioperative Practice and is an expert in the Principles of Sterile Technique.
• Knowledgeable regarding specialized CV instrumentation and maintenance.
• Knowledgeable about the heart lung bypass machine functionality, tubing, and circuit connections.
• Knowledgeable about implants and requirements for preparation and implantation.
• Demonstrates understanding of hemodynamic parameters and uses this knowledge to anticipate needs.
• Demonstrates interpretation of electrocardiographic information to continually access patient needs.
• Is able to focus on patient safety during all phases of the preoperative, intraoperative, and immediate postoperative process as the ultimate patient advocate.
• Has the ability to be flexible and versatile while maintaining a calm demeanor.

Credentials with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* Registered Nurse AL Single State or any of the following equivalent qualifications below:
- Registered Nurse AL NLC Multi State
- Registered Nurse Non-AL NLC Multi State
* Basic Life Support

Education with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* Associate of Science Nursing in Nursing
