Fleet Manager

We are fast growing and offer benefits which include PTO. Summary Serve as driver’s supervisor/representative in Operations. Manage driver performance in identified categories and be the primary communication link to drivers. Work to achieve optimum driver and customer satisfaction. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Sole communication link to driver, including load information, advances, purchase orders, maintenance coordination, performance counseling, and dissemination of general company news and information. Responsible for assigned full board of tractors and drivers, including effective management for optimum performance in the following categories. Ensuring data entry is correct always. Coding errors on service failures need to be minimal. Fleet Managers will be responsible for 97% data entry accuracy. Responsible to ensure driver turnover stays in the ideal range; preventable turnover should never exceed 115%. Utilization, mileage may vary depending on the month; utilization overall should be 310‑326 MPU. Dedicated freight MPU goal may be adjusted to fit the specific business unit. On‑time Service - service failures should be minimal; communicate customer expectations to drivers. Overall safety - hours of service, unsafe driving and overall CSA scores will affect bonus potential. Ensure drivers are current on preventative maintenance on their trucks. Update drivers on road conditions and restrictions as communicated by the Safety Department. Communicate to HR in a timely manner on driver medical conditions or attendance issues. Handle driver complaints and ensure they are escalated appropriately and handled timely. Work with Load Planners and other Fleet Managers to plan future workload. Work with Service and Breakdown departments to adequately maintain equipment and meet service schedules. Think strategically and plan ahead of rapidly changing situations while maintaining a positive team‑oriented attitude. Be well organized and engage with team members. Maintain a positive attitude with co‑workers and supervisors, exercising the speed of trust when issues arise. Qualifications 2‑year degree in a related field. 3‑year experience in transportation. Demonstrates decision‑making ability with little supervision. Intermediate user ability for Microsoft Excel. Education and/or Experience Associate Degree or 1‑2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Computer skills: Knowledge of TMW Database software, Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds.
