The Laborer III is an experienced construction laborer who supports journeyman ironworkers and apprentices on a large semiconductor construction site. This person keeps materials, tools, and equipment ready, loads and unloads steel, keeps the work area clean and safe, and serves as a trained fire watch and spotter. A Laborer III works with little direction and helps newer laborers learn the job.

Why This Role Matters

Ironworkers can only work as fast as their materials, tools, and work area allow. A strong laborer keeps the crew moving and the site safe. Fire watch and spotting are life-safety jobs: one missed spark or one missed signal can cause a fire, an injury, or a damaged load.

This role owns

• Having materials, tools, and equipment ready before work starts.
• Housekeeping and organization of the crew's work area.
• Fire watch duties when assigned, including stopping hot work if a fire hazard appears.
• Stopping work and speaking up when anything looks unsafe.

This role escalates

• Any request to perform ironworker tasks such as connecting, bolting, or welding. These go to the Foreman first.
• Damaged materials, tools, or equipment.
• Unsafe conditions that can't be fixed on the spot.
• Any injury, near miss, or fire. Report it right away.

Support the crew

• Follow instructions from the Foreman and crew leads.
• Load, unload, stage, and organize steel and construction materials.
• Make sure materials, tools, and equipment are ready before the crew starts.
• Return tools when not in use and keep them in good condition.

Fire watch and spotting

• Serve as fire watch during welding, cutting, and grinding, with an extinguisher ready, and stay for the required time after hot work ends.
• Spot for equipment, forklifts, and loads, keeping people clear of the swing and travel path.
• Use radios or approved signals clearly and consistently.

Safety and housekeeping

• Follow EZARC, TSMC, and general contractor safety rules, and take part in daily pre-task planning.
• Keep walkways, work areas, and laydown yards clean and free of trip hazards.
• Separate scrap and recyclables to reduce waste.
• Follow heat illness prevention: water, rest, shade, and reporting symptoms early.

Grow and help others

• Help newer laborers learn site rules and good work habits.
• Look for better ways to do the work, and learn from journeymen and apprentices.
• Build skills toward an ironworker apprenticeship if interested.

Required

• At least 1 year of construction laborer experience, preferably on industrial or commercial sites.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and safety rules.
• Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts outdoors in extreme heat.
• Willingness to complete site orientation, fire watch, and spotter training.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Reliable transportation to and from the job site.

Preferred

• Experience as a fire watch or spotter.
• Familiarity with welding and cutting operations.
• OSHA 10 card.
• Forklift or aerial lift training.
• Experience on semiconductor, data center, or large industrial projects.

Must be able to perform these essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation:

• Work up to 12-hour shifts doing physical work in extreme heat and other weather.
• Lift, push, or pull up to 70 pounds.
• Climb and keep balance on stairs, ladders, scaffolds, and framework, with training.
• Reach above the shoulders and below the waist. Stoop, kneel, and bend.
• Move safely in confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
• Wear full PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, vest, and safety-toe boots.

Outdoor work on an active semiconductor construction site in Phoenix. Cranes, forklifts, welding, and heavy equipment operate nearby. Summer heat is extreme, and heat illness prevention is part of daily work. Site badging, orientation, and full PPE are required.

Full time. Shift times follow the season and daylight. For example, winter from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and summer from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Shifts may run up to 12 hours.

This role is measured on working safely, keeping the crew supplied, and keeping the work area clean.
