Marketing Communications Specialist

Taylored Expressions is a family-owned and operated paper crafting company that equips customers with the tools, techniques, and inspiration they need to fill the world with love and joy. Each week, we introduce customers to new products and offerings through our e-commerce website.

The Marketing Communications Specialist plays a key role in connecting Taylored Expressions with our crafting community. Through thoughtful storytelling, engaging content, and clear, consistent messaging, this position helps customers discover new possibilities, feel inspired to create, and share the joy of handmade creativity with others.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer and communicator who understands how to connect with customers across multiple channels. They bring creativity, curiosity, attention to detail, and a collaborative spirit to everything they do, helping ensure every communication feels authentic, useful, and unmistakably TE.

As our brand and community grow, this position will have opportunities to contribute to an expanding range of marketing communications, brand storytelling, and public relations initiatives.

• You’ll own how we talk with our crafting community across email, SMS, blog, and social media, and you’ll make every message clear, useful, and unmistakably TE.
• You’ll work closely with our Marketing Manager and our design, creative, e-commerce, and customer service teams. You’ll write, build, and schedule campaigns for weekly product releases and promotions. You’ll turn our designers’ projects into stories that build customers’ confidence, and you’ll keep our social channels full of inspiration and real conversation.
• You’ll also help bring our in-person and virtual events to life, including Stamp Joy and our classes, from the first announcement through the post-event follow-up. Along the way, you’ll use engagement data and customer feedback to keep improving how we communicate.

• Customers feel like the heroes of their own crafting stories. Our messages encourage, inspire, and connect, with TE as their creative guide.
• Every touchpoint sounds like TE. Whether customers find us in their inbox, on Instagram, or on the blog, our voice is warm, consistent, and recognizable.
• Customers know what to do next. Each message makes clear what we’re offering, why it matters, and how to take the next step.
• Our email and blog programs run like clockwork. Content publishes accurately and on schedule, even when priorities shift.
• We’re always getting better. Performance insights and customer feedback shape what we try next.

• 2+ years writing customer-facing marketing content (email, blog, or social) for a consumer, retail, or ecommerce brand.
• Hands-on experience building, testing, and sending campaigns in an email marketing platform.
• Experience writing social content for a brand and engaging with an online community.
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, including adapting one message across multiple channels.
• Organization and dependability under deadlines, plus the ability to juggle multiple projects and collaborate across teams.
• A customer-curious mindset and comfort using data to learn what’s working.
• A portfolio or writing samples that show your range.

Bonus points if you have experience with Klaviyo (including segmentation and A/B testing), StoryBrand or a similar customer-centered messaging framework, or event and registration communications. Familiarity with papercrafting, cardmaking, or the creative hobby community is a plus, but not required.
