Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required | Holidays Rotated

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 29-bed Medical Surgical unit managing a wide range of diagnoses including GI bleeds, sepsis, cellulitis, CHF, DVT, pulmonary embolisms, osteomyelitis, and comfort measures
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 5–6:1 on night shift
• Titrate Heparin drips per protocol; manage patients with oxygen requirements up to 6L NC and stable BiPAP/CPAP
• Perform IV starts; utilize unit resources and inpatient phlebotomy team as appropriate
• Monitor telemetry via remote house-wide telemetry department using Philips equipment; collaborate with 24-hour PCT, Charge RN, Crisis RN, and administrative supervisor resources
• Float to other Med/Surg-like units as needed (no ICU or chemotherapy patient assignments)

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN License (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS Certification required
• Must comply with a drug-free workplace policy; a negative drug screen for all panels is required
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate adjustment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior Medical Surgical nursing experience with exposure to common diagnoses such as sepsis, CHF, DVT, and pulmonary embolism
• Experience titrating Heparin drips
• Familiarity with Philips telemetry monitoring equipment
• Comfort working with elderly patient populations and those requiring comfort measures
