Field Technician I

Title: Field Technician I | Client: Southern Company Services | Location: Ackerman, MS | Contract: 4 Months | Experience: 0–3 Years Job Summary We are seeking a Field Technician I to support coal handling and plant operations in a power generation environment. This role is responsible for the safe inspection, operation, and monitoring of coal handling systems, fuel transfer equipment, conveyor systems, and associated plant equipment. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of industrial equipment, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safe and reliable plant operations. Key Responsibilities Inspect, operate, and monitor coal handling systems, conveyors, fuel transfer lines, and related plant equipment . Collect, prepare, and document fuel samples. Operate Limestone Drying Process Equipment . Provide basic field support for equipment installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Assist with routine maintenance and operational activities. Monitor equipment condition and report abnormalities or issues. Maintain accurate operational records and documentation. Follow all safety, environmental, and plant operating procedures. Support plant personnel with day-to-day field activities. Participate in training to improve technical and equipment operating skills. Required Qualifications 0–3 years of related field or industrial experience . Technical Diploma or equivalent education/experience preferred. Basic understanding of industrial equipment and system operations. Strong attention to detail. Ability to follow written procedures and safety requirements. Strong work ethic and commitment to safe plant performance. Ability to work effectively under supervision and as part of a plant operations team. Physical Requirements Frequent standing and walking throughout the plant. Ability to walk up to approximately 800 yards at a time . Ability to walk extended inclined conveyor walkways. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and access heavy equipment. Ability to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds . Ability to push or pull objects requiring up to approximately 50 pounds of force. Full mobility of hands, arms, and legs required for equipment operation and maintenance activities. Ability to work on platforms, ladders, elevated areas, and around industrial equipment. Ability to operate rolling stock, forklifts, vehicles, valves, switches, hand tools, and power tools as required.
