Job Title: Interim Chief Accounting Officer (CAO)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) to provide immediate leadership and oversight of a complex accounting function during a critical transition period. This individual will serve as a key member of the finance leadership team, partnering closely with executive leadership to ensure the integrity of financial reporting, strengthen accounting operations, and guide the organization through a period of change.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished accounting executive who has successfully led large-scale accounting organizations and can quickly establish credibility with stakeholders across the business. This individual should bring a balance of strategic leadership and hands‑on execution, with a proven ability to navigate complex accounting environments, drive process improvements, and deliver accurate financial reporting while leading teams through change.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership and oversight of the accounting function.
• Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
• Serve as the organization's technical accounting expert, providing guidance on complex accounting matters and transactions.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and governance processes.
• Lead relationships with internal and external auditors, ensuring successful audit execution.
• Partner with executive leadership on strategic financial initiatives and operational decision-making.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting organization while establishing accountability and operational excellence.
• Evaluate existing accounting processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and control.
• Support critical finance and accounting initiatives throughout the engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, including experience as a Chief Accounting Officer, Corporate Controller, or similar executive-level accounting leader.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, technical accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit management.
• Demonstrated success leading accounting organizations through periods of transition, transformation, or organizational change.
• Proven ability to partner effectively with executive leadership and influence strategic decisions.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to quickly assess priorities, execute independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
