Quality Systems Specialist Overview The Quality Systems Specialist I (Material Review Coordinator) is responsible for managing the review, documentation, and control of nonconforming material in accordance with prescribed dispositions. This includes the physical and electronic movement of material within the organization as well as to external providers, and the prompt resolution of nonconforming materials in accordance with applicable quality standards. Essential Responsibilities Physically and electronically move piece‑parts, sub‑assemblies, and finished goods through internal processes with an emphasis on control of nonconforming material. Timely creation and processing of nonconforming records (NCRs) for nonconforming materials. Maintain accurate and detailed records of MRB activities, nonconformities, investigations, and dispositions. Monitor and maintain inventory of materials in quarantine or designated MRB locations, performing regular cycle counts and investigating inventory discrepancies. Generate reports and metrics on MRB status, material movement, and nonconformance data to provide visibility to management and support performance targets. Read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings, purchase orders, specifications, and other requirement sources. Adhere to all internal processes, particularly those associated with handling of non‑conforming materials. Act as the central point of communication between quality, engineering, production, and procurement teams to ensure timely resolution of material issues and effective implementation of actions. Perform measurements and visual quality assessments of received items, work‑in‑progress, finished goods, and nonconforming material. Document inspection results by completing reports and logs and inputting data into the quality database. Verify equipment is operational and calibrated, and coordinate repairs when necessary. Participate in other Quality Systems activities, including internal audits and root‑cause corrective action investigations. Execute initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders. Maintain and elevate relationships with engineering, operations, customer service, and all other facets of the company. Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping, and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal system requirements. Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels internal and external to the organization. Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, etc., to provide constructive recommendations and initiate actions to support organizational goals. Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values. Keep management informed of area activities and any significant problems. Ensure work areas are clean, secure, and well maintained. Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments, as required. Other duties, as assigned. Qualifications Education, Certifications, and Years of Experience: High school diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred. Prior experience in a manufacturing, quality control, or materials management role is required. Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) processes or nonconformance management highly desired. Other Qualifications: Ability to work with inventory management and nonconformance tracking systems is essential. Basic understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings, standards, specifications, and certificates of conformance. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; strong attention to detail; ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment; and strong problem‑solving abilities. Must be a U.S. citizen. Internal Training Required Quality Systems Learning Path. Exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. Use of standard office equipment and protection as required. This is a full‑time position (8 hours, Monday through Friday). Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required. No regular travel is expected for this position. Physical Requirements Talk and hear regularly. Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus are required. Vision and color vision must pass job‑required vision screening. Occasionally require sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. May be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Compensation & Benefits Pay Range: $25–$34 per hour.
