Cost Accountant Location: La Porte, Indiana Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite Salary: $80,000–$90,000 Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our team in La Porte, Indiana. This position will play a key role in analyzing manufacturing costs, supporting financial reporting, and providing meaningful insight into operational performance. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of manufacturing experience , strong analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment . Key Responsibilities Analyze manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, overhead, and production variances. Prepare and analyze cost reports, inventory data, and financial information to identify trends and opportunities. Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Investigate cost and production variances and communicate findings to management and operations. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, standard costing, and cost analysis. Monitor inventory and manufacturing-related expenses for accuracy and efficiency. Partner with operations and other departments to improve cost controls and profitability. Identify process improvements and provide analytical support for business decisions. Ensure financial data is accurate, timely, and compliant with accounting standards. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. At least 1 year of manufacturing accounting or cost accounting experience. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while managing multiple priorities. Strong Excel and financial analysis skills. Ability to work collaboratively with accounting, operations, and leadership teams. Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
