Microbiology Analyst

Pay Rate Low: 30 | Pay Rate High: 34 We are seeking a detail‑oriented Microbiology Analyst to support Quality Control and Environmental Monitoring activities within a regulated pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing environment. This individual will perform microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, data analysis, and documentation activities to ensure compliance with cGMP requirements and support product quality and patient safety. Location: Newark, CA Contract position w/ extension Pay: $30-34/hour Key Responsibilities Perform environmental monitoring of manufacturing facilities and utilities, including viable and non-viable air monitoring, gas monitoring, surface sampling, water sampling and testing, and personnel monitoring. Conduct endotoxin, sterility, and other compendial microbiological testing on drug products and supporting samples. Perform aerobic and anaerobic microbial enumeration, plate reading, data analysis, and result reporting. Execute microbiological laboratory techniques including media growth promotion testing, gram staining, microbial isolate preparation, and organism identification support. Support laboratory operations by maintaining equipment, monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring availability of required supplies in a GMP‑compliant environment. Enter, review, trend, and analyze laboratory data within laboratory information management systems (LIMS). Generate environmental monitoring reports and communicate findings, trends, and recommendations to management. Investigate environmental monitoring excursions, out‑of‑specification (OOS) results, and microbiology‑related deviations, and support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Author, revise, and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), test methods, and controlled documentation. Support change control activities and continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality organization. Maintain compliance with cGMP regulations, company procedures, and data integrity requirements. Collect and report performance metrics to support operational excellence and quality improvements. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Quality Control Microbiology laboratory within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or related regulated industry. Hands‑on experience with environmental monitoring programs, including air, surface, water, gas, and personnel monitoring. Experience performing bioburden and water quality testing.
