Specimen Processing - Specimen Technician

Specimen Technician Location: Lewisville, TX 75067 Duration: 3 months Hours: Tuesdays – Saturdays, 10:00 pm–6:30 am (3rd shift) Pay: $17.20–$21.10 per hour plus a 15% shift differential. Responsibilities Provide general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department, requiring a background in data entry. Perform functions such as A‑station, presort, pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory, imaging/microfilming, centrifugation, and aliquoting. Execute all functions with confidence, accuracy, and in a timely manner, meeting productivity and quality standards. Learn and understand specimen types related to tests ordered by clients, and adhere to ever‑changing compliance regulations. Adapt to changing demands from customers, working nights, weekends, holidays, on call, and overtime as needed to meet staffing requirements. Operate in a biohazard environment, practicing safety habits and complying with safety and compliance policies and procedures. Sit or stand for long periods, keep work area neat and clean, and communicate effectively with all levels of staff. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a willingness to adapt to change. Qualifications Education: High‑school diploma or equivalent. Required Knowledge: Basic computer skills; preferred knowledge of laboratory testing and/or specimen processing. Work Experience: No prior experience required, but laboratory experience preferred; medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory and previous production‑environment experience are also preferred. Position requires data entry capability of approximately 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour. Additional Details This is a third shift position with a 15% shift differential added to the pay rate.
