Food Quality Assurance ManagerLocation: San Diego, CaliforniaOur growing San Diego food manufacturing company is seeking an FSQA Manager to lead the Quality Assurance department and its programs, ensuring compliance with company policy as well as USDA and FDA regulations. This role integrates food safety, quality assurance, and quality control across all functions and teams throughout the plant.Schedule: Full-timeCompensation: $110,000 to $135,000 per yearWhat You’ll DoThis manager oversees and sustains all SQF required programs, leading efforts to achieve SQF scores above 90%, and reviews, updates, and creates HACCP plans to keep pace with business needs. The role organizes and maintains the QA document library so information can be easily presented or compiled as needed, and monitors product manufacturing to ensure compliance with SSOP, GMP, HACCP, and SQF standards for third party audits and customer requirements. This person establishes manufacturing specifications, standards, protocols, and procedures for quality control and new product development, and develops and executes training programs supporting the company’s quality and food safety objectives plantwide. The role supports sales with compliance on label submittals for new products, and creates, updates, and manages product specifications and files. This manager also keeps plant certifications current, including Kosher, Halal, Organic, GMO, and gluten free designations, alongside USDA, FDA, and customer specific audits, and manages the third shift sanitation crew to ensure equipment and building sanitation compliance. The role includes coaching and developing subordinates through training and certification opportunities, applying timely discipline, and making hiring and termination decisions as needed, along with ensuring swab testing, pH, and sodium testing remain consistent with plant process needs.Required QualificationsBachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Process Engineering, or a similar disciplineSolid track record of successfully implementing and maintaining compliance with food manufacturing policies and procedures (GMPs, SSOPs, HACCP, SQF, and all prerequisites)Strong Microsoft Office and systems knowledgeExperience as a QA Manager in the food industry, including time in a USDA regulated environment (see note below)SQF Practitioner certification and HACCP certification requiredAbility to work in a cold environment (meat processing)Preferred QualificationsSelf-starter who takes initiative and ownershipStrong ability to multitask, stay organized, and deliver resultsDemonstrated integrity and ethical decision makingProfessional, dependable, and flexible approach to workCompensation and Benefits$110,000 to $135,000 per yearMedical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) Paid time off To apply, submit your resume for consideration.
