Clinical Therapist (LPC, LMFT, or LCSW required) JOB SUMMARY TheClinical Therapist provides therapeutic services to individuals andfamilies. The Clinical Therapist performs mental status examinations, crisismanagement, individual, group and family work. This position involves frequentcontact with consumers, program staff, MCH employees, community agencies, andvisitors. This position requires a thorough understanding of and demonstratedcompetency in the Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) techniquesdeveloped by the Karen Purvis Institute of Child Development at Texas ChristianUniversity. The Clinical Therapist must possess strong organizational andleadership skills and exhibit the intellectual and emotional maturity requiredto work with youth and families who have behavioral issues and difficultyrelating to others due to developmental delays, mental health needs and trauma.This position requires compassionate respect and understanding for individualswho have experienced complex trauma and the ability to balance the need for nurture andstructure in the work with clients served. The Clinical Therapist must be able toform and maintain healthy relationships with clients and co-workers,effectively communicate with others, and regulate their own behavior in allsituations. DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES Consultwith MCH supervisor and, if applicable, clinical supervisor to ensure clientsreceive appropriate psychological and mental health services. Providetherapy services for clients. Conductmental status assessments. Staycurrent with practices, procedures, and protocols for the applicable MCHprograms. Maintaincompliance with applicable licensing and accreditation standards. Workcollaboratively in a proactive and positive manner with other department staff. Representprogram at agency functions, activities and events. Representagency at community functions, activities and events. Completerequired documentation. Completerequired CEU's to maintain licensure. WORKINGCONDITIONS This is aprofessional position that may require more hours than a normal 40-hourworkweek. Presence during normal business hours of the agency is required toprovide supervision, staffing, and availability for consultation.Responsibilities may include evening and weekend work. This position willrequire the ability to respond to crises after hours based on agency need. A technology stipend is provided to support thecommunication requirements of this position. EDUCATION/LICENSURE A master's degree inSocial Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related human services field isrequired. Candidates must hold an active Texas license as an LCSW, LPC, orLMFT, as required by the assigned program/department. A minimum of three yearsof experience in a related field is preferred. The Clinical Therapist must meeteligibility requirements for Texas Medicaid and STAR Health credentialing forthe assigned program/department and obtain full credentialing within one yearof hire. TRAINING Traininghours must be completed in pre-service and annually to comply with licensingand accreditation standards and MCH policy. The employee's supervisor mayrequire additional training to meet specific job requirements or enhanceprofessional growth. Completion of training requirements is mandatory forcontinued employment. OTHER TheClinical Therapist must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid TexasDriver's License, an excellent driving record that meets the standards setforth by the liability insurance company and Methodist Children's Home, nocriminal history and acceptable references.
