PRIMARY PURPOSE


Oversee technical support for all events that take place in auditoriums, assist with other stage performances throughout the district as needed, and provide additional support for outside use of all district performance facilities. Facilitate event rentals, oversee student tech workers, manage audio/visual systems in district facilities, and coordinate support for district events such as graduation, football games, convocation, etc.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred


Special Knowledge/Skills:
• Knowledge of operations of an auditorium and related equipment
• Knowledge of professional-level lighting, sound productions, and counterweight fly systems
• Knowledge of safety in a performing arts environment with use of lifts, ladders, etc.
• Ability to manage and supervise students and staff
• Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
• Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge and ability to support event planning functions, including scheduling, coordination, logistics, and on-site execution


Experience:
• Three years experience working in a professional or high school performing arts venue


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Productions


1. Maintain a synchronized master calendar for auditorium(s) and campus stages to prevent scheduling conflicts and ensure all events align with available staff and student resources.


2. Attend community events as assigned. Supervise technicians, performers and patrons during these events. If unable to attend, complete all necessary paperwork in advance, ensure that a capable and trained individual is present to oversee the event, and retain full responsibility for the coordination of the associated technical, logistical and custodial crews.


3. Serve as the liaison for groups that use the auditorium and related facilities.


4. Manage, maintain, and oversee operation of audio visual systems in the administrative offices and board room.


Event Planning


1. Serve as a key liaison to coordinate district-wide technical events, providing essential resource support while mentoring and overseeing student participants to ensure alignment with district goals.


2. Manage event logistics, including venue setup, audiovisual needs, and accessibility accommodations.


3. Coordinate with internal departments, campus administrators, vendors, and community partners to ensure timely and effective event execution.


4. Develop event timelines, checklists, and run-of-show documents to ensure smooth implementation.


5. Monitor event budgets, process purchase requisitions, and ensure compliance with district procurement and financial guidelines


6. Oversee on-site event operations, including staff coordination and problem resolution as issues arise.


7. Communicate event details clearly and professionally to participants, presenters, and stakeholders.


8. Evaluate events post-completion and provide recommendations for improvement.


Facilities Management and Responsibilities


1. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, teachers, staff, lessees, equipment, materials, and facilities.


2. Assist and provide support and technical supervision to event-related staff, students (paid and unpaid), district employees, and contractors (including any employees of rental clients).


3. Oversee all maintenance and physical plant operations in the auditorium and work with district maintenance department to maintain the facilities at the highest quality. Input work orders into the district work order system for repairs on the building and other fixed assets.


4. Work with campus and district personnel to provide for reasonable security and preservation of the auditorium and the wide array of capital assets housed within.


Technical Support


1. With the aid of paid or non-paid students maintain all audio, lighting, and scene shop equipment and related equipment. Ensure that all mechanical, electrical and computer systems are in top working condition. Schedule and carry out periodic cleaning and preventive maintenance on all systems.


2. Recommend and oversee capital improvements to the auditorium and related facilities as necessary.


3. Assist with direction in the use, maintenance and inspection of all lighting,sound, and video equipment in stages, gyms, band and choir rooms, training rooms, stadium press boxes, and similar spaces throughout district facilities.


Communication


1. Maintain a positive, professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.


2. Work cooperatively with the campus and district administrators to achieve the overall success of the auditorium and other district stages.


Other


1. Assist in planning and administering an annual operating budget for the auditorium and other technical equipment in the district.


2. Serve on District Event Planning Team: Home varsity football games, graduation, convocation, etc.


3. Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, UIL rules, and board policy in the technical productions area.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


Oversee hiring, training and supervision of student tech workers.

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; technical lighting and sound equipment, other theatre equipment including but not limited to counterweight fly systems, lifts, and ladders.


Personal computer or online computer terminal, printer, calculator, and copier.


Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting, and reaching


Motion: Frequent standing and walking


Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds); may lift and move theatre arts equipment


Environment: Work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent districtwide and occasional statewide travel; Work inside in office environment or in theatre environment with diminished lighting; occasional work outside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; occasional exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust and electrical hazards


Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress
