Position Summary: Provides high-quality preventive and therapeutic oral health services to patients of all ages within a community health setting. This position performs dental hygiene services, provides patient education, and promotes positive oral health outcomes while working collaboratively with the dental team to ensure compassionate, accessible, and patient-centered care. The Dental Hygienist also supports community outreach efforts and the overall mission of Knox Public Health and the Knox County Community Health Center. Essential Functions:Perform adult and child prophylaxis, including cleaning deposits and stains from teeth below the gumlinePlace sealantsTake digital x-raysAssist patients in feeling comfortable before, during, and after dental treatmentEducate patients on appropriate oral hygiene strategies (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing, nutritional counseling)Enter and maintain patient information using the agency's electronic dental record systemCommunicate effectively with patients, staff, and supervisors to ensure an informed atmosphereMaintain supplies and cleanliness at all timesAdhere to office policies and procedures protocolsProvide assistance in other areas of the dental clinic when neededRequirements:Current licensure in Ohio as a licensed dental hygienistA minimum of two years' experience as a licensed dental hygienist is preferred however individuals will be assessed on a case-by-case basisExpanded Function Dental Auxiliary License a plusRequires exceptional hygienist, communication, computer and customer service skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong attention to detail and ability to follow instructionsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environmentWillingness to learn and take direction from experienced dental professionalsCommitment to providing exceptional patient careBenefits:11 Paid HolidaysVacationSick Time (2 weeks/year)Personal LeaveLife InsuranceHealth/Dental/Vision InsuranceRetirement under OPERS (Ohio Public Employee Retirement System)
