Job Description and Duties

As the Grants and Certification Manager (SSM I/Supervisor I) at CCC Headquarters in Sacramento, you will lead the Grants and Local Assistance Unit. You will oversee high-impact state grant programs, direct the Local Conservation Corps (LCC) certification process, and lead a dedicated team of analysts—driving positive environmental and community change across California.

Key duties include:

- Grant Management: Supervise the rollout, award, and compliance of state grant programs for local corps, tribal organizations, and external partners. Provide training, monitor grant expenditures, and conduct site evaluations.

- LCC Certification: Oversee the annual certification process for local conservation corps, serve as subject matter expert to leadership, and manage the CalRecycle contract.

- Bond Oversight: Serve as primary administrator for the Agency Bond Consolidated Reporting System (ABCRS), tracking bond expenditures alongside Budget and Accounting.

- Unit Leadership: Mentor, evaluate, and support a team of analytical staff (SSA/AGPAs), building an inclusive and safe workplace culture.

- Operations: Coordinate unit budgets, handle administrative tasks, and assist with special projects or emergency coverage as needed.

Prime Sacramento Location: Based at CCC Headquarters in Sacramento, offering a central, professional office setting.

CCC Headquarters has recently gone through renovation including all new cubicles, new LED lighting, new flooring, and new bike rack, we have operational showers in both men's and women's restrooms, along with gender neutral restrooms in the building. Our kitchenettes are equipped with hot water dispensers, refrigerators, and automatic ice makers!

Special Requirements

• State Civil Service Eligibility: Candidates must have current list eligibility, transfer eligibility, or reinstatement eligibility for the Supervisor I (Sup I) classification via CalCareers. 
• Background Investigation: Candidates may be subject to a pre-employment background check, including Live Scan fingerprinting and employment history verification. 
• Travel Requirements: Occasional statewide travel may be required to conduct on-site evaluations, grant monitoring, and corps program reviews. 
• California Residency: Candidates must reside in California to be eligible for employment and any telework agreements. 
• General State Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate essential personal qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, and the ability to work cooperatively with others.

Eligibility Information

3. Reinstatement Eligibility – Previously obtained permanent employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. 4. Training & Development (T&D) Assignment – State employees in a permanent appointment, and no longer on probation, may be considered for a T&D assignment.
