Registered Nurse - CVOR

Job Description

Job Summary:
The CVOR Registered Nurse provides specialized perioperative care in the cardiovascular operating room, supporting patients undergoing cardiac and vascular procedures. This role involves floating to other clinically appropriate units as needed, within the nurse's scope of practice.

Responsibilities:

• Administer perioperative nursing care to cardiovascular surgery patients before, during, and after procedures.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
• Monitor patients' vital signs, anesthesia levels, and overall status throughout procedures.
• Document all care activities accurately within electronic health records.
• Respond promptly to intraoperative emergencies and facilitate appropriate interventions.
• Follow established protocols for infection control, patient safety, and emergency procedures.

Qualifications:

• Hold a current Illinois Registered Nurse license.
• Possess current CPR/BLS certification.
• Maintain ACLS certification; PALS, TNCC, NIHSS preferred based on unit.
• Demonstrate clinical competency in cardiovascular surgical nursing and related units.
• Show flexibility to float across multiple units including CVOR, ICU, Step Down, and Emergency Department.
• Comply with applicable licensure and certification requirements for specialized critical care.
