Emergency Department Registered Nurse

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Orientation will be a full day on Monday and a full day on Tuesday. Part-time day or night shifts will be scheduled as needed. Rotation includes working holidays.

Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies nursing theory, technical, and communication skills to provide high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient needs, prioritizes urgent and emergent care, and collaboratively provides direct care while applying appropriate interventions and evaluating patient progress.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of patients in the emergency department.
• Identify urgent and emergent care priorities using Triage Standards.
• Establish rapport with patients and families to address comfort needs.
• Document assessments and patient responses to treatment accurately.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
• Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures and treatments.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding post-emergency care.
• Maintain awareness of patient conditions and provide updates throughout their stay.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Two years of acute hospital experience as a registered professional nurse.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only).
• Current New York State RN licensure.
