Apply today and help power the systems that keep our world running.Under little to no supervision, the PLC Applications Engineer writes PLC programs, OIT programs, and software control descriptions for controlling various water and/or wastewater processes. Responsible for the analysis, design, programming, debugging and modification of programmable logic for such applications. Verify that all aspects of PLC & OIT functionality meet required project specifications and perform bench testing, shop testing, and troubleshooting during startup and post commissioning. Ability and willingness to train and aid other programmers, along with assisting in the development of departmental best practices and standards.This role will travel about 30-40% of the time throughout California. What you'll do: Write PLC operating program based upon control specification and/or Tesco standards to assure safe, reliable and optimal equipment operationWrite (publish) concise operating instructions detailing; control parameters and their effects under normal and failure conditions Provide technical assistance (phone or job-site) to verify and/or modify PLC programPerform customer training and assist sales force with product presentationsWork with various departments internally, along with consulting engineers, customers and end users to assure proper system layouts and designsAnalyze and interpret existing programs and documentation to identify systems' requirements and project modificationsEnsure assignments and work schedules follow policy and proceduresAssist in the standardization of department programming practices and proceduresEvaluate current procedures and recommend changes to improve the efficiency of planning, documentation and execution of development activityFunction as technical leadership of projects and support larger scale projectsCommunicate effectively to a wide range of internal and external contactsAssist in training other employees on any aspect aboveProvide weekly content and job status reports used with scheduling tools.All other duties assigned What you bring:At least 5+ years of related experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Technology or related field and necessary experienceApplied knowledge in programming major manufacturers (Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Tesco, etc.) PLCs & OITsExcellent understanding of computer operations, Microsoft OfficeExcellent knowledge of instruments and electro-mechanical devices used for process controlExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent attention to detailHigh level of organizational and time management skillsHigh level of project management skills $135,000 - $155,000 a yearPay offered will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and geographic location. We may pay more or less than the range based on the person’s qualifications.
