LEAD & ASSISTANT TEACHERS Lead Child Care Teacher This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Lead Child Care Teacher provides direction for the children in the classroom, implements program curriculum, and provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on building achievement and belonging. Essential Functions: Designs and implements curriculum within the established guidelines and daily lessons/activity plans. Adapt lessons to meet the needs of each child as needed. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child. Trains, provides guidance to, and collaborates with assistant teachers. Closely monitors arrivals, departures, and absences of all participants, and ensure that children’s whereabouts are known at all times during program hours. Manages emergencies, unusual circumstances, and behaviors. Maintain effective lines of communication with parents and co-workers, with respect to confidentiality. Plan and conduct parent-teacher conferences and assist in coordinating outreach activities for families. Maintains classroom cleanliness, maintains the “tour-ready” standard. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Child Development. Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age. High School diploma or equivalent general education degree required, Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education preferred. Abusive Head Trauma Training, CPR for infant and child, AED, Skills and Strategies for the Child Care Teacher, SIDs Prevention Training, Fundamentals of Infant and Toddler Care within 30 days of employment. CPR, First Aid, AED Certifications and child abuse prevention trainings within 30 days of hire. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred. Must be able to comply with ADA requirements. Must complete Wisconsin Mandated Reporter Training within 30 days of hire. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher and Director of Child Development. Qualifications: Must be at least 17 years of age. High School diploma or equivalent general education degree preferred. AQUATICS LIFEGUARD Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and promotes safety in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Builds positive relationships with members and program participants through effective listening and verbal skills and creatively finds ways to connect them to one another and the Y community. Essential Functions: Maintains active surveillance of the pool area Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the “safe-in-six” model; completes related reports as required Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state health department code Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action Identifies and celebrates the successes of members and program participants Attends all staff meetings and in-service training Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications: Minimum age of 15 Certifications: Professional rescuer CPR/AED and first aid. Current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent Child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards SWIM INSTRUCTOR This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes. Essential Functions: Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly Builds effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers students and parents to other programs Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.). Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary Organizes and puts away needed class equipment Trains and supervises class aides as assigned Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications: Certifications: Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent At least 15 years of age YOUTH CHILD CARE WORKER We are looking for a Child Care Teacher to encourage the healthy intellectual and psychological growth of the children in our facilities. You will teach and supervise them while also motivating them to use their mental capacities and exercise their imagination. Essential Functions: Design and follow a full schedule of activities and discover suitable teaching material Balance your teaching between logical and social exercises Provide basic care and caregiving activities Use a wide range of teaching methods (stories, media, indoor or outdoor games, drawing etc.) to enhance the child’s abilities Evaluate children’s performance to make sure they are on the right learning track Remain in constant communication with parents and update them on the progress of their children Observe children’s interactions and promote the spirit of concord Identify behavioral problems and determine the right course of action Collaborate with other colleagues Adhere with teaching standards and safety regulations as established by the official sources Qualifications: Proven experience as a child care / daycare teacher Excellent knowledge of child development and up-to-date education methods Methodical and creative Patience, flexibility and love for children Strong communication and time management skills Certificate in first aid and CPR Degree in early childhood education KIDS’ ZONE STAFF This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Kids’ Zone Staff provide care for the youngest members of the Green County YMCA in a safe environment while parents are utilizing the facility. Essential Functions: Nurtures children through play while building relationships with the youth and families Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Shows safe, effective range of motion and exercise control, demonstrates strength and endurance maintaining role‑model form throughout Asks and answers questions from program participants and members to support them in achieving their goals related to health and well‑being Takes professional initiative to offer information, promote and sell personal training and additional health and wellness programs Acquire the knowledge to develop safe and effective personalized fitness programs for members including cardiovascular, strength straining and flexibility components, based on their goals and motivation Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support. Maintains their certification Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA Observes and adjusts approach to support all participants’ capabilities, physical conditions, health and culture Understand the prevention, detection and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, basic emergency procedures, and the legal and professional responsibilities of personal training Integrate the mission of the YMCA and follow the core values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility into the healthy living aspect of job responsibilities Set‑up and maintain equipment, store and secure equipment upon completion of each Personal Training session. Evaluate fitness equipment, reporting the needs of the program to the Wellness Director Keeps accurate member personalized fitness records including scheduled, rescheduled and cancelled appointments Follows YMCA policies and procedures Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications: Specific knowledge of basic human anatomy and physiology as well as exercise prescription and training techniques Must hold a nationally recognized Personal Training certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM, ACS, etc.) CPR, First Aid, AED certification within 30 days of hire Child abuse Prevention Training within 30 days of hire GROUP EXERCISE INSTRUCTOR This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Instructs group exercise classes to a variety of ages in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that welcomes people of all skill and fitness levels. Effectively builds community within the class. Provides exercise options as needed to meet varied health, ability and cultural needs. Essential Functions: Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals Be willing and available to teach consistently and sub as needed. Be prepared for class by preparing free‑style classes or learning pre‑choreographed routines. Engages with program participants and members to support them in achieving their goals related to health and well‑being while staying within the scope of knowledge. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA. Observes and adjusts approach to support all participants’ capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture. Celebrates achievement of program participants related to program or personal goals, mastering of specific skills or overall health and well‑being. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends through continuing education opportunities to provide effective information and support to members. Qualifications: Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED, national certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Group Exercise Instructor certification. Certification in areas of expertise At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes is preferred, but not required.
