RN Clinical Nurse II (Per Diem) UNC Hillsborough Hospital Emergency Department Location: United States, North Carolina, Hillsborough This role provides competent clinical nursing care in a 16‑bed emergency department, including patients with minor and critical injuries. Responsibilities require coordination of care using the nursing process and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs; attend education programs and use patient education materials. Identify expected patient outcomes, revise plans of care, and discuss care with the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrate competence in care of complex patients, perform bedside point‑of‑care testing, and prioritize care based on patient and family needs. Develop goals for professional growth, achieve objectives, and support intra/interdepartmental collaboration. Assess complex situations, synthesize data, and communicate priorities and discharge needs. Collaborate with patients and families to prepare or update care plans, address cultural and ethnic issues, and prioritize tasks. Maintain knowledge of current practice by reading relevant journals and sharing insights with staff. Education Requirements Graduation from a professional nursing school. Licensure / Certification Requirements Registered Nurse license in the state of North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification. Professional Experience Requirements One (1) year of relevant and current experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements Knowledge of the nursing process, emergency department protocols, and patient assessment techniques. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Competence in using clinical software and performing bedside point‑of‑care tests. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage complex care issues, and support cost‑effective care. Work Type Per Diem – minimum commitment of 24 hours per month, including at least one summer and one winter holiday shift. No benefits are provided; employment is at‑will.
