About The Clinic/Role You will room patients, coordinate care with providers, provide patient education, complete weekly nursing assessment for status checks, and address patient care needs. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting. Responsibilities Education – Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs and uses patient education materials relevant to the patient population. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers and developmental level. Evaluation of Care – Identifies expected patient outcomes. Seeks guidance as needed in revising the plan of care. Participates in discussions with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate patient care and communicates relevant information for continuity of care. Implementation – Demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational and safety aspects. Performs bedside point‑of‑care testing as required, utilizes organization and nursing standards, policies and procedures, organizes and prioritizes care, and consults with appropriate resources for complex care issues. Leadership – Develops goals to promote professional growth, achieves goals within identified timeframe, facilitates interdepartmental collaboration, participates in unit goal development and performance improvement, uses communication systems effectively, promotes cost‑effective care, provides feedback to co‑workers, and promotes a safe environment. Patient Assessment – Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities, including physical, psychosocial, educational and safety needs. Synthesizes assessment data and anticipates discharge needs. Planning – Collaborates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care, uses multidisciplinary resources, addresses cultural and ethnic issues, and prioritizes tasks for patients with complex problems. Research – Reads relevant journals, brings ideas and questions to the staff for assessment of applicability. Other Information Education Requirements Graduation from a school of professional nursing. If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment and obtain a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Nursing or a Master’s degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date. Licensure/Certification Requirements Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
