A California-based law firm is seeking an Energy & Utility Attorney with at least two years of experience practicing before the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) on electric and gas utility proceedings.

This opportunity is focused on energy and utility law, with work involving energy policy, rate cases, regulatory proceedings, and related advocacy.

 

Key Responsibilities

The attorney will perform a range of work involving energy policy and rate cases, including:

• Legal research and factual investigation
• Administrative record development
• Brief writing and preparation of legal materials
• Appearances at administrative proceedings
• Energy policy evaluation and development
• Oral advocacy before regulatory bodies
• Collaboration with diverse stakeholder groups
• Legislative work

 

Required Qualifications

• Candidates must have a minimum of two years of experience practicing before the CPUC on electric and gas utility proceedings. The position also requires excellent research, analytical, writing, communication, judgment, initiative, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Candidates should be able to work collegially and contribute effectively within a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work culture. The position requires the ability and willingness to travel as needed, including for hearing appearances, meetings, and educational events.

 

Compensation & Benefits

• The anticipated base salary range is $120,000–$175,000, with actual compensation dependent on the selected candidate's years of practice and experience.
• The compensation and benefits package also includes annual performance-based bonuses, health insurance benefits, and the opportunity to participate in a 401(k).

 

Work Arrangement

• The firm offers a remote work arrangement option. The position is based in Northern California, with offices in South San Francisco and Sacramento.

 

Salary Range: $120,000 – $175,000
