Description

Residential Care Technician (RCT / CNA / Med Tech) employment opportunity. Sierra Health and Wellness use evidence-based methods to accomplish the restoration of families, relationships, and self-worth. By transforming the character, we give life back to the people who have lost it through substance abuse and mental health issues.

Our outpatient facility (PHP) helps adolescents in the Roseville area. Designed for adolescents who experience overwhelming symptoms of mental health like anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, or teens who are engaging in unsafe behaviors. We offer teens and their families a safe and welcoming environment to promote healthy life skills, develop resilience, and improve daily functioning.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Residential Care Technician is responsible for providing high-quality patient care, supporting medical and behavioral needs, and maintaining a safe therapeutic environment. This role oversees client health monitoring, documentation, ADL assistance, transportation, and medication observation.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide direct client care that promotes safety, respect, and therapeutic engagement.
  • Observe clients' physical and emotional condition and promptly report any concerns to clinical or supervisory staff.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including mobility, toileting, bathing, and meals, as needed.
  • Take and document vital signs, complete wellness checks, and record observations according to program procedures.
  • Observe and document client self-administration of medications in accordance with program and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond appropriately to behavioral health or medical crises and follow established intervention protocols.
  • Prepare and maintain client rooms and common areas to ensure a safe and supportive living environment. Support meal service and ensure dietary needs and restrictions are followed.
  • Provide safe transportation for clients to program activities, appointments, and other approved outings.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, safety, and readiness for transport.
  • Assist with general facility upkeep and environmental services as needed.
  • Support the admissions process, including intake support and documenting client belongings and inventories.
  • Participate in and help facilitate groups, activities, and treatment programming as directed by clinical staff.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certified in CPR/First Aid (within 30 days of hire)
  • Med-tech or CNA Certification (within 30 days of hire)
Preferred education and experience:
  • Associates degree in Psychology, or Social Work or other related field or a combination of education and/or two (2) or more years of experience in healthcare or mental health experience.

Hourly: $21.00 - $27.00 The posted pay range is a reasonable estimate that the organization believes in good faith it may pay for this particular job based on the circumstances at the time of posting. This pay range is not a promise of a particular wage. Pay may consider several factors including but not limited to internal equity, experience, specialty, training, hours/shifts worked, business need, and education. Pay ranges may be adjusted in the future depending upon many factors including business needs.

Qualifications:

Competency

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with clients, staff, regulators, and community partners.
  • Proficient ability to read and interpret simple instructions and diagrams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think outside of the box to resolve problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite or related software.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

  • Primarily indoor environment with occasional outdoor work performed in a residential or outpatient treatment setting.
  • May be exposed to individuals experiencing emotional distress or behavioral challenges.
  • May work in close proximity to staff and clients.
  • Noise level is typically moderate.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the day.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move objects up to 25 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
  • Must have adequate visual acuity to read labels, and written instructions, and sufficient hearing to communicate effectively in a treatment environment.

Travel Required

  • Moderate travel for outings, pharmacies, between facilities, external trainings or meeting; must be able to drive or otherwise travel between locations during regular work hours.

Required education and experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certified in CPR/First Aid (within 30 days of hire)
  • Med-tech or CNA Certification (within 30 days of hire)

Preferred education and experience

  • Associates degree in Psychology, or Social Work or other related field or a combination of education and/or two (2) or more years of experience in healthcare or mental health experience.

Work authorization/security clearance requirements:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Must successfully pass fingerprinting, criminal background check, and any additional clearances required by DHCS, DSS, or funding/regulatory agencies.
