UPS Technical Resource Specialist

Job SummaryThe UPS Technical Resource Specialist serves as a subject matter expert supporting UPS products, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and related power conversion technologies. This role is responsible for coordinating and conducting Factory Witness Testing (FWT), maintaining test equipment and Factory Witness Test (FWT) area readiness, supporting investigation of recurring field issues, and acting as the technical liaison between Field Service, Engineering, Product Management, and Manufacturing. Working primarily within the TIC WLY facility, the UPS Technical Resource Specialist provides technical expertise that supports product quality, reliability improvements, and successful customer acceptance testing customer acceptance testing.Responsibilities:Coordinate and lead Factory Witness Tests (FWT) for UPS systems, battery systems, and integrated power solutionsPrepare test setups, instrumentation, load banks, monitoring equipment, and documentation required to execute customer witness testing.Develop, review, and maintain Factory Witness Test procedures, checklists, and test protocols.Conduct functional, operational, performance, and acceptance testing in accordance with established engineering and customer requirements.Create comprehensive Factory Witness Test reports documenting test results, observations, deviations, corrective actions, and customer acceptance criteria.Maintain ownership, accountability, and inventory control of FWT equipment, tools, instrumentation, and associated test assets.Ensure all test equipment, meters, analyzers, oscilloscopes, power quality instruments, and calibration standards remain calibrated and compliant with applicable quality requirements.Maintain calibration records and coordinate calibration services to ensure continuous compliance with company and industry standards.Support troubleshooting and failure analysis activities associated with recurring field service issues and product reliability concerns.Collect, analyze, and document field failure data, operational trends, and root cause findings.Partner with Engineering and Product Management teams to investigate product issues and develop corrective actions.Serve as the primary technical liaison between Field Service technicians and Engineering teams regarding product performance concerns, field failures, and product improvements.Participate in design reviews, product improvement initiatives, and engineering change evaluations by providing field performance feedback.Assist in the development and validation of troubleshooting procedures, service documentation, and technical bulletins.Maintain test area and designated workspaces in a safe, organized, and audit-ready condition.Generate technical summaries and reports outlining field trends, recurring issues, corrective actions.Support customer visits, factory inspections, and technical presentations associated with witness testing activities.Promote compliance with all safety requirements, quality standards, electrical safety practices, and company proceduresTravel: N/ASkills and Experience Required:4+ years of experience supporting UPS systems, power electronics, energy storage systems, field service operations, product engineering, testing, or a related technical discipline.Experience performing product testing, commissioning, diagnostics, troubleshooting, or reliability analysis within a manufacturing or field service environment.Experience with customer-facing technical activities and acceptance testing processes preferred.Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities involving power electronics, electrical systems, and communication networks.Ability to develop technical reports, test procedures, engineering documentation, and customer facing reports.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across multiple functional groups.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, testing activities, and competing priorities.Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, one-line drawings, control drawings, and technical specifications.Effective presentation and customer communication skills during witness testing and technical review meetings.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, safety, and procedural complianceWorking knowledge of three-phase UPS systems, power distribution equipment, battery systems, static transfer systems, and maintenance bypass equipment.Understanding of factory acceptance testing, witness testing, commissioning practices, and quality assurance processes.Knowledge of power electronics, inverter technologies, rectifier systems, battery management systems, and communication protocols.Understanding of electrical safety practices, OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and NFPA 70E.Proficiency using oscilloscopes, power analyzers, digital multimeters, data acquisition systems, and related diagnostic equipmentEducation and Certifications:Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Industrial Technology, or related technical discipline; or equivalent military or industry experience.Job SummaryRequisition Number: UPSTE001888Job Category: Field ServiceSchedule: Full-Time
