Medical AR & Denials Specialist

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Medical AR & Denials Specialist for a growing healthcare organization. This is a three-month contract opportunity based in the Chicago area. While qualified remote candidates will be considered, preference will be given to local candidates.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
This role is responsible for managing accounts receivable, denials, appeals, and insurance follow-up activities across a multi-site healthcare practice. Working within eClinicalWorks, the Revenue Cycle Specialist will play a key role in identifying reimbursement opportunities, resolving complex claim issues, and supporting overall revenue cycle performance. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive healthcare billing professional who enjoys problem-solving, collaboration, and making a measurable impact.

- Manage accounts receivable follow-up and collections activities across multiple providers and facilities
- Research, resolve, and appeal denied claims with commercial insurance carriers, Medicare, and Medicare Advantage plans
- Submit corrected claims, supporting documentation, rebills, and appeals to optimize reimbursement outcomes
- Review referrals, eligibility, authorizations, payment variances, and claim status to identify and resolve issues
- Collaborate with revenue cycle team members to troubleshoot challenges and improve reimbursement workflows
- Maintain accurate documentation and account activity within eClinicalWorks
- Hands-on experience using eClinicalWorks (ECW) in a healthcare billing, collections, or revenue cycle setting
- Strong background in accounts receivable management, denials resolution, appeals, and insurance follow-up
- Experience working with commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and HMO plans
- Familiarity with multi-provider, multi-location, or third-party billing environments
- Detail-oriented, collaborative, adaptable, and committed to delivering high-quality work
- $24-$30/hour, depending on experience
- Flexible remote work opportunities for qualified candidates
- Monday-Friday schedule (8:00 AM-4:00 PM or 9:00 AM-5:00 PM)
