Phlebotomy TechnicianPay Range: $20.41hr - $21.70hrRequirement/Must Have:Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment as required.Minimum of 6 months’ work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.Responsibilities:Assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.Perform blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination.Update patient information and maintain accurate records.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients in a clear and courteous manner.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Fully understand and follow all physician orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport and store samples according to required temperature and protocol to maintain specimen integrity.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Skills:Phlebotomy.Venipuncture.Specimen Processing.Centrifugation.Data Entry.Microsoft Office Suite.OSHA Compliance.Qualification And Education:High School Diploma or GED.State-required Phlebotomy Certification.
