Saw Operator

The Saw Operator is responsible for safely and accurately operating industrial saw equipment to cut raw materials to specified dimensions according to work orders, blueprints, and production schedules. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up and operate saw equipment (band saws, circular saws, cold saws, or similar machinery) to cut metal, wood, or other materials to required specifications
• Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and measurements to ensure accurate cuts
• Measure, mark, and inspect materials before and after cutting to verify quality and dimensional accuracy
• Adjust machine settings such as speed, blade type, and cutting angles based on material type and job requirements
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following 5S and housekeeping standards
• Perform routine machine maintenance, blade changes, and basic troubleshooting
• Identify and report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or material defects to supervisors
• Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements
• Work closely with production team members to meet daily output and quality goals

Requirements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous experience operating industrial saws or similar production machinery preferred
• Ability to read a tape measure and basic blueprints accurately
• Strong attention to detail and quality
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs
• Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of materials
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, vibration, and varying temperatures

Work Environment

• Manufacturing/production floor
• Exposure to moving mechanical equipment
• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Schedule

• Full-time
• Overtime as required to meet production demands
