Literacy Program Coordinator, Alpha - $120,000/year USD

Overview Structured-literacy credential (Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, or equivalent) or a Master’s in reading instruction is required. You will work on-site at one Alpha campus across multiple California locations and other U.S. cities. The role focuses on small-group, data-driven reading instruction for K-3 students using AI-adaptive applications, with no traditional lectures or pacing calendars. What You Will Be Doing Creating small-group K-3 reading workshops driven by live adaptive-app data, rooted in structured-literacy approaches Leading daily motivation sessions that drive students toward weekly app targets using Alpha’s motivational system Analyzing AI-generated performance data to modify instruction in real-time Conducting running records, fluency probes, and decoding assessments to demonstrate weekly gains Engaging with students in a high-energy manner to maintain enthusiasm and participation What You Won’t Be Doing Implementing a published reading curriculum, scripted program, or district pacing guide; you design lessons based on student data Delivering lectures to a full classroom; instruction occurs in small, targeted groups using adaptive apps Serving as a classroom-based reading consultant or district-level specialist; you work directly with students daily Following a traditional classroom schedule with subject-by-subject lectures; your time is spent in workshops, motivation sessions, and data-driven groups Preparing IEPs, 504 plans, or formal diagnostic reports; progress is documented in app data and running records Literacy Program Coordinator Key Responsibilities Deliver measurable K-3 reading gains across phonics, fluency, and comprehension in a campus environment with weekly outcome assessments. Basic Requirements Structured-literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson Reading System, IMSE, CERI, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent) OR a Master’s degree in reading instruction Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, plus 2+ years of full-time K-3 structured reading instruction in a school or clinical setting within the last 5 years, utilizing systematic phonics or structured literacy Proven ability to design your own reading lessons and clearly explain what you teach and how, without relying on a published program Willingness to work full-time in person at one Alpha campus (list of locations) Willingness to work with all K-3 students and incorporate AI/adaptive-learning tools as these tools develop legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship Nice-to-have Requirements Practical experience with AI-powered or adaptive reading platforms for instructional planning or data analysis Documented track record of measurable reading outcomes with specific numbers Experience administering diagnostic reading assessments to form differentiated groups Experience in high-accountability educational settings Background in performing or coaching youth activities to engage a K-3 audience outside the reading classroom About Alpha Alpha School is transforming education with an AI-enhanced approach.
