About the Role

The CNC Swiss Machinist sets up, operates, and verifies the quality of parts produced on Swiss CNC machines. This role involves working with close tolerances, performing repeat and complex setups, troubleshooting machining issues, and ensuring finished parts meet quality and production standards. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and experience working in a job shop environment.

Shift Options

• First Shift: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts, or Monday–Thursday, 10-hour shifts.
• Second Shift: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts, or Monday–Thursday, 10-hour shifts | +$8/hour differential
• Weekend Shift: Friday–Sunday, three 12-hour shifts | +$6/hour differential

Shift availability and schedules may vary by location.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Swiss CNC machines to meet production requirements and quality standards.
• Monitor machine performance, including positioning and cycle times, and make adjustments as needed.
• Perform repeat machine setups independently and assist with more complex setups as needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and sample prototypes to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Select and align tooling, fixtures, and attachments for machining operations.
• Troubleshoot routine machining issues independently and more complex issues with guidance.
• Run production and deburr parts as required.
• Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments to verify part quality.
• Complete required production paperwork and keep materials and documentation organized.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and properly care for tools, machines, and equipment.
• Follow established safety procedures, work practices, and quality system requirements.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on CNC Swiss machine setup and operating experience, preferably in a job shop environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments to verify part quality and ensure close tolerances.
• Ability to perform repeat setups, make machine adjustments, and troubleshoot routine machining issues.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• High school diploma or equivalent, plus at least two years of vocational training in machine tool technology or a related field, or equivalent experience and training.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience performing complex Swiss CNC machine setups independently.
• Experience working with tight tolerances and complex precision-machined components.
• Experience with tooling selection, optimization, and machining process improvements.
• Familiarity with quality management systems and production documentation.
• Experience in a high-mix, low-volume job shop environment.
• Experience with continuous improvement initiatives and troubleshooting challenging machining issues.
