Behavioral Health Specialist, Social Work / Counselor III - Platte Valley Youth Services Center.

Overview Position: Behavioral Health Specialist (Mental Health Counselor) Location: Youth Services Center, Division of Youth Services – Platte Valley State of Colorado resident only. Responsibilities Conduct individual, group, and family therapy using evidence‑based treatment theories. Maintain caseload and document sessions in Fusion EHR. Assess clinical status, monitor medication effectiveness, and coordinate care with MDT. Provide crisis management, suicide risk assessment, and medication monitoring. Collaborate with medical, educational, and security staff for integrated care. Develop assessment and treatment plans; adjust interventions based on progress. Train and consult with staff on best practices and evidence‑based interventions. Attend case reviews, team meetings, and maintain professional certifications. Qualifications Current, valid Colorado or participating state social work licensure (LSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LAC). Minimum 1 year of experience with valid licensure from a state participating in the Social Work Licensure Compact for duties akin to this position. License holder eligible for membership in the Social Work Licensure Compact. Knowledge of federal/confidentiality regulations (42 C.F.R. Part 2, HIPAA). Strong communication, organizational, and crisis management skills. Eligible to be a Colorado state resident at time of application. Conditions of Employment Minimum age 21; no felony convictions or history of domestic violence. Background check, reference check, MVR, valid Colorado driver’s license required. Completion of DYS Pre‑service Training Academy, Field Training Program, and mandatory annual training. Compliance with the Diana Safe‑Risk Screening Tool.
