Work schedule must include Wednesdays. The role of the Physical Therapist is to provide direct, indirect and consultation services to assist implementing students' educational goals and objectives as described in their individualized educational plans (IEPs). Physical Therapy services are delivered within the context of an integrated related services approach when appropriate. Physical Therapists work under the direction of the Program Director and coordinate daily schedules and daily operational duties with classroom teachers in accordance with standard practices and previous training. OUR ORGANIZATION The Education Cooperative (TEC) is an educational collaborative and 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in E. Walpole, MA that develops and coordinates educational and organizational programs to meet the needs of our 19 member communities and their students in a way that complements and strengthens their school programs and expands opportunities for their students, educators and communities in the most cost effective manner. The TEC Campus School (TCS), one of three DESE approved public special education day schools within TEC, is designed for students with multiple disabilities that necessitate a small, structured educational and therapeutic setting to support a wide range of learning, medical, and behavioral needs. At TCS, experienced, licensed special educators, related service providers, and nurses along with the support of teaching assistants, provide students with curriculum in the areas of functional academics, communication, motor, vocational, social, recreational, and daily living skills. Working as a team utilizing an integrated related services approach, the TEC Campus staff keep students' therapeutic, sensory, behavioral, and medical needs at the forefront so that students can access their learning, achieve the goals on their IEPs, and develop the skills that will help them be as successful, healthy, happy, and independent as possible. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES Provide physical therapy services individually and in small groups with a focus on students accessing their educational environments and making progress on gross motor skills/function; Support students in multiple settings including classrooms, therapy areas, pool, playground, gym, and community; Adjust/order/learn about adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs, standers, gait trainers, Hoyer type lifts, orthoses/braces etc., ability to work with clinicians/technicians; Train staff to safely support students with partial and full transfers and mobility within their educational environments; Communicate verbally and with written methods to coordinate with doctors, insurance companies, vendors, clinicians/technicians, and families; Complete IEP paperwork and evaluations pertaining to physical therapy services and actively participate in IEP meetings; Complete applicable paperwork for Medicaid billing; Complete Letters of Medical Necessity when necessary; Maintain ethical behavior and utmost confidentiality regarding information pertaining to students; Establish an effective, collaborative work relationship with classroom teachers/staff, other specialists, administration, parents, and IEP teams; Exhibit promptness and dependability in completing all assigned duties in accordance with TEC Personnel Policies; Maintains consistent attendance from the start of the day to the end of the day; Such additional duties as may be from time to time assigned by the Program Director or Director of Student Services. Position Type: Part-time Salary: $37,998 to $69,308 Per Year Job Categories: Student Services > Physical Therapist Job Requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor/Master's/Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy, licensed in the state of Massachusetts; Interest, and/or experience working with students identified with a variety of special education needs including, but not limited to, severe physical disabilities, health/medical issues, and/or behavioral issues; Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (using appropriate procedures); Ability to effectively work with students, school staff, and administration; Adept in working cooperatively with colleagues including other PTs; Able to demonstrate effective oral and communication skills; Able to maintain written records; Capable of handling stressful situations in a calm and professional manner;

JOB ENVIRONMENT

Work takes place in classrooms and other school rooms/areas, including offices, within a school building setting, primarily indoors. The position offers a friendly, supportive work environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (using appropriate procedures). Requires sufficient vision to read printed documents and to view detail on a computer screen for extended periods. Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation, on the telephone. Ability to hear sounds clearly up to twenty feet.
