Summary The 7th grade girls basketball coach at Gwinn Middle / High School will be responsible for developing the skills and teamwork of student‑athletes while fostering a positive and inclusive environment. The coach will guide players in understanding the fundamentals of basketball, promoting sportsmanship, and encouraging personal growth both on and off the court. This role requires a commitment to the development of young athletes and a passion for teaching the game of basketball. Responsibilities Plan and conduct daily practices that focus on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy. Organize and oversee all aspects of the 7th grade girls basketball program, including scheduling practices. Teach the fundamentals of basketball, including dribbling, shooting, passing, and defensive techniques. Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team progress and expectations. Monitor student‑athletes' academic performance and provide guidance to ensure they maintain eligibility. Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their skills. Maintain equipment and ensure the safety of all players during practices and games. Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on coaching techniques and best practices. Requirements Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school level or higher. Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes. Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all players. First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain). Must pass a background check and adhere to school district policies. Availability for practices and games during evenings and weekends.
