Club Athletic is a community-driven strength and conditioning club built on a simple idea: people stay committed when they train with people who know their name. Members train in Squads — consistent groups, consistent times, one dedicated coach who owns, grows, and nurtures that squad — so every class feels less like a drop-in and more like a sports team training session.

We run eight clubs across New York City, with new locations opening in Hoboken and Chicago, and our calendar runs well beyond the gym floor: run clubs, socials, open houses, and our two pillar events, Club Games and the annual Gala. Everything we do — from the all-black training uniform to the first-timer welcome boards — is designed to remove barriers, build belonging, and keep the focus on the work and the people beside you.

About the Role

The Club Manager is the heartbeat of the Club Athletic member experience. Your number one priority is member retention — achieved by making sure members feel nurtured, valued, and fully integrated into the Club Athletic community.

You own the day-to-day operations and experience of your club: the seamless delivery of every session, the consistent quality of coaching across the floor, and the experience every member has from the moment they walk in. Most of what drives retention sits squarely with you — the socials, the events, the goal-setting calls, the early outreach to a member who has gone quiet. You’ll balance hands-on coaching with operational management, team support, and a strong community presence both in and out of the club.

This role is built for an experienced, people-focused coach ready to step into leadership — someone who thrives on building relationships, holding a high standard, and creating an environment where members stay for the results and the relationships.

You report to the Dual Club General Manager. They oversee sales and facilities across their clubs; you own member retention and day-to-day operations at yours. That split is deliberate — it keeps your attention on your members and your team rather than spread across everything at once.

What You’ll Do

Drive member retention and experience

• Relentlessly look for new ways to improve the member experience, so every member feels valued, seen, and connected.
• Conduct goal-setting calls in line with per-club targets — building rapport, tracking progress, and identifying retention risk early.
• Spot at-risk members and act quickly to re-engage them and prevent cancellations.
• Select and recognize award recipients at end-of-season celebrations.
• Attend at least one Squad class a month that you are not coaching, to connect with members, observe delivery, and find improvements.

Lead community engagement and events

• Manage your squad WhatsApp threads — sparking conversation, sharing updates, keeping the energy high.
• Organize and run in-club and out-of-club events that build connection and retention.
• Represent the brand at local events and social activities.
• Roll out initiatives with your Dual Club General Manager to strengthen squad culture and drive attendance.

Coach, and hold the coaching standard

• Coach 8–10 classes per week, keeping a visible and inspiring presence on the floor.
• Make sure every session meets Club Athletic coaching standards, monitoring and upholding quality across your whole coaching team.
• Give coaches real-time feedback and actively look for development opportunities.
• Sit in on trials, auditions, and shadow sessions for coaches joining your floor. Your recommendation carries formal weight; your Dual Club General Manager makes the final call.
• Take part in coach training and lead team-building sessions as needed.

Own day-to-day club operations

• Run the daily operations of the club — everything on time and to brand standard.
• Own key systems including Mindbody and GHL, keeping scheduling, reporting, and member data accurate.
• Make sure every scheduled class is covered, stepping in to coach when needed.
• Hold the club to an exceptional standard of cleanliness and readiness using operational checklists.
• Manage opening and closing procedures, inventory, and day-to-day admin.
• Report to your Dual Club General Manager on operational performance, issues, and member feedback.

And the part that’s hard to teach: you read a room, you remember names, and you’re in the group chat at 9pm because you want to be — not because it’s on a checklist.

You’re also operationally sharp, highly organized, and a confident, warm communicator in person, in writing, and on a screen.

Requirements

• NASM-CPT or equivalent certification (required).
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certified.
• 2+ years coaching in a group fitness or strength and conditioning setting. Hospitality or other high-touch, customer-facing experience is a strong plus.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience (preferred).
• Full-time availability, with flexibility for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
• Physical ability to kneel, bend, reach, climb, stand for extended periods, and lift at least 30 lbs.

• Salary: $75,000 – $80,000 per year, full-time salaried, depending on experience + performance based bonus.
