About the Role Mori is seeking a highly motivated, solution oriented, collaborative, and hands-on Senior Manager of Food Safety and Quality Assurance to support Mori’s Food Safety and Quality efforts. You will be responsible for leading the development and improvement of Mori’s Food Safety and Quality programs, processes, and systems for our internal production facility in Boston. You will partner with other Mori teams, such as supply chain, procurement, engineering, manufacturing, and technical services to build Food Safety and Quality expectations into all food safety and quality programs and processes. You will have the unique opportunity to help lead the efforts of food safety and quality development work that has not been done in the food industry before. You will report to the Senior Director of Food Safety and Quality. This position will advance our global business by ensuring our ability to develop new processes and suppliers while maintaining and executing against existing programs and systems, including SQF and other regulatory and industry certifications. Location & Schedule Based in Hood Park, Charlestown, MA On Site Requirements: 5 days a week What You Will Do Ensure effective execution of Mori Food Safety and Quality Standards (“FSQ”) across operations including process development and scale-up, internal manufacturing, supply chain, and technical services. Manage Food Safety activities within our Boston production facility including reviewing batch records, cleaning and sanitation records, EMP monitoring, microbiological swabbing and testing, training, GMPs, performing internal audits, overseeing the HACCP and Food Safety Program, and maintaining SQF certification. Enforce 3rd party, customer, and SQF certification requirements and maintain all relevant certifications (Kosher, Halal, Organic), including interfacing with customers and regulatory and food safety certification bodies. Coordinate root cause and risk analysis and manage Corrective and Preventative Action Plans (CAPA). Collaborate with various business functions to ensure clear protocols are in place and executed to support qualifying and on-boarding of new supplier and distributor. partners, conducting production trials, first production approvals, and monitoring of on-going production. Review certificates of analysis (CoA) from suppliers, QA/QC reports, and other quality documents. Support routine quality activities such as supplier complaints, lot and code tracing, monitor holds, review plant problems. Create and maintain reports including but not limited to quality data trending, information spreadsheets, and log spreadsheets. Conduct microbiological and environmental monitoring testing to verify food safety controls, analyze results, and document findings in according with internal programs and regulatory requirements. Be the voice for FSQA on cross-functional project teams and provide the appropriate guidance and support in the execution of projects. What You Will Bring Ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or related scientific field. PCQI, HACCP, and SQF certified. FSVP and Food Defense certified is desirable. At least 7 years food and/or beverage experience or related field including HACCP/HARPC implementation/management experience. At least 7 years experience in Quality System Implementation. At least 7 years experience working with external/internal auditors. A good working knowledge in the areas of Quality Systems and Auditing Protocols. Knowledge and understanding of FDA (FSMA) and USDA NOP requirements. Knowledge of sanitation programs, regulatory compliance, specification adherence, and other operational food safety and quality programs. Experience in incident investigation, as well as knowledge of auditing and monitoring procedures. Experience in microbiological testing. Experience in sanitary review and sanitary design is desirable. Ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours (nights/weekends). Ability to work effectively across business units and through external partners. Self-starter. Motivation and ability to figure things out and work independently.
