Night Auditor Purpose of Position Night Auditors greet and register guests, provide outstanding service during their stay, and settle accounts upon departure. Core duties include completing night audit reports, balancing house and credit card accounts, and settling guest accounts. They also handle reservations, perform hotel operator and concierge duties, and ensure efficient, courteous service prior to arrival and throughout the stay, maximizing room revenue and occupancy. Essential Functions Possess a positive and upbeat personality with a desire to deliver outstanding customer service. Maintain a high level of professional appearance and demeanor. Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in all areas. Run audit reports per checklist. Process no‑shows according to policy. Conduct security walks a minimum of four times per shift. Set up lobby coffee service and breakfast, if applicable. Demonstrate the ability to multitask, be detail‑oriented and problem‑solve to effectively deal with internal and external customers. Handle and resolve guest complaints professionally and courteously through effective listening and clarifying issues. Demonstrate good communication skills and convey information and ideas. Perform basic math and understand financial information. Recognize and take action on any safety or loss‑prevention incidents that may cause damage, injury, or other liability; implement all company policies and procedures for safety and security. Complete training in security, alcohol, and health and safety. Ensure OSHA, State, and Federal guidelines for chemical, fire, health, and safety are followed. Work with other departments to keep room status up to date and ensure timely repairs. Use persuasive selling techniques to promote rooms and marketing programs. Carry out front desk responsibilities: greet guests, process transactions, balance reports, control cash and deposits, manage reservations and credit cards, operate phone and TDD equipment, use shift logbook and shift reports, operate basic office equipment, schedule wake‑up calls per property procedures. Understand hotel policies on cancellation, extended stays, room types and rates, late check‑outs, early arrivals, and special requests. Manage key control: issue and receive both room and master keys. Process lost and found items per policy. Operate basic computer equipment, including Microsoft Office suite. Assist in training new staff. Support a positive, enjoyable work environment. Understand hotel products and services (food and beverage, recreation). Perform other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Mandatory Job Requirements Communicate professionally with hotel staff, guests, and management. Know surrounding area and events. Use proper telephone etiquette. Understand and adhere to cash and credit card handling policies. Read, write, and speak English. Learn safety, emergency, and accident prevention policies and procedures. Maintain neat, well‑groomed appearance, including proper uniform and name tag per brand standards. Have a flexible schedule that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays. Accountability Complete night audit training within the brand‑acceptable time frame. Follow and submit daily checklist per property procedures. Maintain a high level of quality, service, and cleanliness. Ensure smooth front‑desk operations. Communicate openly with direct supervisor. Keep guest survey scores within an acceptable range. Experience or Training Required High school education. One year of hospitality or guest service experience (preferred). Detail‑oriented. License or Certification Required Complete night audit training program within the brand‑required time frame. Marginal Job Functions Clean guestrooms and lobby and public areas as needed. Restock front‑desk supplies. Help with laundry as needed. Deliver cribs, towels, or other items to guestrooms as requested. Perform light maintenance duties. Restock, inventory, and sell guest marketplace and pub if applicable. Physical Demands Stand, walk; use hands and fingers for long periods up to 8 hours at a time; reach with hands and arms. Frequently repeat the same movements, including frequent keyboarding. Understand speech of others and speak clearly. Read and see details. Lift up to 10 pounds occasionally, up to 35 pounds from time to time. Stoop, kneel, twist or crouch occasionally. Environmental Conditions The job is considered inside; employees will spend 75% or more of their time inside. Must work effectively in a stressful environment, communicate well with others, and handle guests and constructive criticism. Must change activity frequently and cope with interruptions.
