Senior Software Engineer

Barclays Services Corp. seeks Senior Software Engineer in Whippany, NJ (multiple positions available). Responsibilities include: Build reusable components using well‑structured, high‑quality, performant code for real‑time integration of reference data (counterparty, client, account, and book) into trade processing, ensuring seamless data flow across systems. Drive end‑to‑end project delivery—managing timelines, guiding a small team through iterative development cycles, conducting thorough code reviews, and mentoring junior developers. Understand financial domain‑based system design and extend system architecture to automate business processes, ensuring stringent regulatory requirements and audit trails are supported. Identify and escalated issues and risks in a timely manner to the development/project manager so that project risk can be mitigated with minimal impact. Design and propose modules to Tech Forums with well‑defined timelines. Leverage MongoDB and SQL databases to manage unstructured trade data and generate reports for regulatory compliance. Design modular services and RESTful APIs to support trade lifecycle events, including data enrichment and reconciliation of reference data. Deploy and scale services on AWS (EC2, Lambda, CloudWatch) to ensure availability and monitoring of reference data systems in a cloud environment. Implement automated deployment pipelines and maintain high‑availability systems to support mission‑critical financial operations. Accountabilities Development and delivery of high‑quality software solutions using industry‑aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools, ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance. Cross‑functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives. Collaboration with peers, participation in code reviews, and promotion of a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing. Staying informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contributing to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth. Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions. Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability. Salary : $189,592 – $195,000 per year (base salary only; does not include bonuses or benefits).
