Lift Station Maintenance Tech

This position is designated as safety-sensitive. As such, a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening are mandatory. The incumbent will also be subject to random drug and alcohol testing throughout the duration of employment. Under the direction of the Lift Station Maintenance Supervisor and working with the Lift Station staff, the Lift Station Maintenance Tech performs preventative and corrective maintenance on all lift stations, water pump station and associated emergency generator equipment to minimize downtime and extend the life of the equipment.

Job duties include implementing and sustaining a reliability centered maintenance program for all lift station and pump station equipment in Water Resources to minimize equipment downtime. Coordinates and performs preventative maintenance on all lift station, water pumping station equipment to ensure optimal operational life with minimal expense. Assists with refurbishing pumps, gearboxes, and other equipment as needed. Assists with inventories for all parts and equipment to assure adequate supplies are available for use when needed. Maintain provided tools, equipment, and inventory effectively and efficiently. Completes and records work order information for tracking and documentation in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with safety procedures, rules, and regulations. Participate in required safety meetings and keeps safety certifications and training up to date. Make safety a priority in all job tasks. Must work independently and have the ability to safely operate and maintain a City assigned service truck. Responds to maintenance related issues after hour emergencies as needed. Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or G.E.D. Experience in working with water/wastewater treatment and conveyance equipment preferred. Technical school diploma in related field desired. Valid Class C driver's license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Level I Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate preferred. Level II Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate preferred. Level III Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate preferred. Knowledge of applicable safety rules for equipment repair and maintenance. Knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and various water and wastewater equipment components. Knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques and practices. Basic mechanical skills in proper use of hand tools and other equipment to maintain and repair equipment. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to operate a personal computer. While performing the essential functions of this job, employee may be required to lift, move or carry heavy objects; may possibly be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic substances, excessive noise, temperature extremes, and dampness/humidity.

Position qualifies for a 5% certification incentive based upon attainment of a Level III Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate. Position qualifies for a 5% certification incentive based upon attainment of a Level II Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate. Position qualifies for a 5% certification incentive based upon attainment of a Level I Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate. Position qualifies for a 5% certification incentive based upon attainment of a Water Distribution System Operator License. Position qualifies for a 5% certification incentive based upon attainment of a Wastewater Collection System Operator License. Maximum of 15% in certification incentive pay.
