Job Title: Wiring Harness and Cable Assembler Job Description

This role focuses on accurately assembling wiring harnesses and cables in strict accordance with Assembly Process Instructions (APIs). You will work with a variety of tools and components to produce high-quality cable and wire assemblies used in advanced electronic products across multiple industries.

• Produce cables and wire harnesses by performing wire cutting, stripping, crimping, and soldering in accordance with Assembly Process Instructions (APIs).
• Perform a full range of assembly tasks while strictly following all documented Assembly Process Instructions (APIs).
• Operate and maintain hand tools, crimp tools, pneumatic tools, and assembly-line equipment safely and effectively.
• Fabricate and prepare wires and cables for assembly, ensuring they meet required specifications.
• Strip and crimp wires using hand and pneumatic tools with consistent accuracy and quality.
• Tin wires using a solder pot and prepare them for subsequent assembly operations.
• Perform precise soldering of wire-to-wire and wire-to-terminal connections following quality standards.
• Insert terminated or crimped wires into connectors according to drawings and specifications.
• Route wires on harness boards in accordance with specified layouts and documentation.
• Handle, label, and organize wires, connectors, and cables for assembled units to maintain traceability and order.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and comply with all workplace safety standards and procedures.
• Monitor and identify quality, process, equipment, or material issues and promptly report them to the appropriate leader.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned to support production needs and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Proficiency in basic assembly tasks including wire cutting, stripping, crimping, and soldering.
• Ability to operate hand tools, crimp tools, pneumatic tools, and assembly-line equipment safely.
• Capability to perform precise soldering of wire-to-wire and wire-to-terminal connections.
• Ability to follow detailed written instructions in English.
• Ability to work under a microscope for up to 8 hours.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining product quality.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment preferred, but not required.
• Experience with electrical assemblies, circuit boards, circuits, and PCB assembly or PCB manufacturing is beneficial.
• Familiarity with cable assembly, wiring assembly, and power distribution builds is an advantage.
• IPC Certification preferred, but not required.
• Experience working with preventive action or quality-focused processes is a plus.
• Comfort working on low-volume, custom production runs.
• Strong organizational skills for handling, labeling, and organizing wires, connectors, and cables.

The organization focuses on low-volume, custom orders, giving you the opportunity to work on a wide variety of unique projects rather than repetitive mass production. You will be part of a collaborative team in a growing company with facilities in multiple locations, offering exposure to diverse products, processes, and customers.

You will work in a small manufacturing facility with approximately 80 employees, operating on a single shift. The workday starts between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM and runs for 8 hours, with opportunities for overtime on Saturday mornings. The environment is that of an electronics contract manufacturer specializing in cable assembly, wiring assembly, and PCB assembly, with builds that are primarily box builds and power distributors. Work involves using hand tools, crimp tools, pneumatic tools, solder pots, microscopes, and assembly-line equipment while following defined Assembly Process Instructions (APIs). The facility focuses on low-volume, custom orders, typically ranging from 10 to 20 pieces per order, providing a structured yet varied production setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cranston, RI.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
