Procurement Specialist

We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to support sourcing and purchasing operations for an engineering-focused organization in Portland, Maine. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage procurement activities, maintain strong supplier relationships, and help ensure materials and services are acquired efficiently. The role requires a solid understanding of corporate purchasing practices, contract negotiation, and order processing while working closely with internal stakeholders to meet business needs.Responsibilities:• Oversee day-to-day purchasing activities, ensuring materials and services are obtained in alignment with company policies and project requirements.• Prepare, issue, and track purchase orders while confirming accuracy, pricing, delivery timelines, and supplier commitments.• Coordinate with internal teams to understand demand, clarify specifications, and support timely procurement planning.• Evaluate vendor options, request quotations, and compare proposals to identify the best value for the organization.• Participate in contract discussions with suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and service agreements.• Monitor procurement workflows and resolve ordering, invoicing, or supplier performance issues as they arise.• Maintain organized purchasing records and documentation to support compliance, reporting, and audit readiness.• Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement functions and buying processes to enhance efficiency and consistency.
