We are seeking a Precision Assembly Technician to join our precision Middlefield Operations team. As a Precision Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for assembling and aligning laser interferometer systems and subassemblies to exacting specifications.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform functional and optical testing of interferometers using precision metrology tools.Follow detailed manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.Maintain cleanroom protocols and ensure contamination control during all assembly processes.Collaborate with engineering to support process development, validation, and continuous improvement.Document work performed with extreme attention to detail.Maintain traceability of components and assemblies.Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues.Maintain required training certifications and adhere to safety and quality.Required Skills and CompetenciesHigh School Diploma or GED.3-5 years of hands-on production manufacturing/operations.Solid mathematical aptitude.Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including Bill of Material (BOM), schematics and optical layouts.Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail to handle delicate optical components.Collaborative team player with a focus on problem-solving.Ability to work independently and to be flexible/adaptable with shifting priorities.Organized, conscientious and focused.Basic computer skills for data entry, documentation, and communication.Capable to lift up to 20 lbs. and standing for extended periods of time.Driven to achieve with a commitment to quality with a safety-first mindset.Preferred Skills and ExperienceExperience in manufacturing precision optical or laser-based instruments.Experience working in a Clean Room environment (ISO Class 7 or better preferred).Knowledge of interferometry principles, optical testing, and troubleshooting.Bring your passion and commitment to Zygo, where we are curious, collaborative, persistent, and confident, where safety and quality guide every step of our journey.
