Principal - Small Elementary School SY26-27

Elementary Principal Position

We are seeking a new leader to join our school district as an elementary principal. This role is at Small Elementary School which is estimated to have approximately 240 students in K-4 and is one of four elementary schools in the South Portland School Department. Small School also is home to our district K-4 social, emotional and behavioral special education programs. In-depth knowledge of special education is required; and we have a preference for a candidate with proven leadership in this area. We are seeking a dedicated and visionary leader to strengthen family engagement, implement effective student support systems, and promote equity in education. In particular we are looking for a leader who is committed to the following:

Family Engagement

Lead initiatives that build strong partnerships between families and the school community, recognizing their crucial role in student success.

Student Support Systems

Champion and implement the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to meet the diverse academic and social-emotional needs of all students.

Equity and Inclusion

Drive efforts to eliminate disparities, ensuring every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Clear and consistent communication with staff and families Building a collaborative approach to problem solving and supporting student success. State of Maine Building Administrator 040 certification required.
