Located in Champaign, IL Salary: $20.75 Automotive Manufacturing | 2nd Shift Use your MIG welding skill to inspect, repair, and protect the quality of robotic welds. Express Employment Professionals is hiring a 2nd Shift MIG Welder and Robotic Weld Quality Technician for an automotive manufacturing operation. This position supports robotic welding production by inspecting completed welds, identifying defects, and performing manual MIG repairs or touch-ups. The right candidate understands what a quality weld should look like and can correct problems accurately without slowing down production. What You Will Do- Inspect robotic welds for quality, placement, and completeness
- Identify porosity, missed welds, undercut, burn-through, and other defects
- Perform manual MIG weld repairs and touch-ups
- Load or position components in robotic welding fixtures
- Monitor automated weld cycles and report equipment concerns
- Remove spatter and complete basic weld finishing
- Follow part specifications and quality requirements
- Separate or document nonconforming components
- Maintain welding equipment and an organized work area
- Follow automotive manufacturing and welding safety requirements
- Hands-on MIG welding experience
- Ability to identify common weld defects
- Ability to perform clean and accurate repair welds
- Experience with robotic weld cells or automotive manufacturing is preferred
- Strong attention to detail and finished-part quality
- Ability to work at a consistent production pace
- Availability for 2nd shift
- Combine manual MIG welding with robotic manufacturing
- Build automotive quality inspection and rework experience
- Perform skilled repair work instead of basic production labor
- Develop experience around automated welding technology
