Job Summary

Employees in positions allocated to this level perform duties requiring a high degree of skill in the installation, maintenance, repair, and calibration of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic power plant instruments. They work under general supervision from an Instrument and Efficiency Engineer or other designated supervisor.
Duties & Responsibilities

1. record, integrate, regulate control instruments (such as pressure meters, flow and combustion meters, gauges, and control devices), repairs and adjusts indicating instruments.
2. disconnects inaccurate or damaged instruments and makes suitable replacements.
3. disassembles instruments, examines mechanisms, cleans parts, replaces worn or broken parts.
4. assembles instruments, and checks via testing apparatus.
5. calibrates instruments and combustion controls to coincide with established standards.
6. conducts scheduled inspections of instruments and makes adjustments to those not functioning properly.
7. stores, repairs, and maintains in proper operating condition special testing apparatus (such as Orsats, potentiometers, pilot tubes, and thermocouples).
8. assists members of the mechanics crew as required.
9. cleans and dusts instrumentation equipment.
10. supervises personnel as assigned.
11. performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years (24 months) of work experience comparable to the Steam and Power Plant II or III or comparable experience as a Plant Operating Engineer.
Appointment Information

This posting is for testing purposes only. Salary for this classification is based on the prevailing rate and is currently $50.63 per hour.
